The G502 X series, comprising the wired G502 X, LIGHTSPEED, and PLUS models, evolves the design, starting with a lighter body with thinner walls and LIGHTFORCE-enabled hybrid optical-mechanical switches for players who prioritize the speed of an optical switch but still want the tactile ‘click’ of a mechanical variation.

Both product lines are powered by the identical HERO 25K optical sensor, ensuring 1:1 sub-micron tracking accuracy across the board. Which is best for you ultimately depends on whether you value the traditional, tunable heft of the original legend or the lightened flickability of the X series.

The original G502 HERO utilizes the traditional mechanical switches that many players grew up with, delivering a classic, unmistakable click that happens when two physical metal pieces touch to complete a circuit, like a beautiful, sensitive, microscopic on/off switch.

The G502 X series runs upgraded LIGHTFORCE hybrid switches. This unique technology uses optical actuation to provide near-instant speed and eliminates the physical wear points that cause double-clicking. But it has a mechanical actuator, so you still get the crisp, tactile click.

Weight and handling represent the most significant physical difference between the two lines. The G502 HERO is built for players who prefer a weightier mouse. This is one of the few models that offer a manual tuning system that lets you add small weights to the bottom of the frame (keeping a low center of gravity) from a baseline of 121 grams up to 139 grams. Fans of this type of mouse praise its stable, balanced feel in the hand.

The G502 X goes the opposite direction. It was redesigned with a thinner body to drop weight and give it lighter handling some competitive players prefer. The wired G502 X weighs 89 grams, while the wireless G502 X LIGHTSPEED comes in at 102 grams.

The G502 X refines the ergonomics of the DPI-Shift button. While the original HERO features a fixed button, the G502 X introduces an adjustable and removable DPI-Shift button.
