An esports athlete’s headset is their connection to the game and their team – so audio needs to be immediate and clean. Pros make thousands of micro-decisions to win high-stakes matches, and they need to be operating with the most accurate spatial context from in-game audio to be effective. High-quality microphones are non-negotiable, comms need to be instantly understood. Headset design must eliminate distractions, discomfort threatens focus and affects performance during marathon sessions and tournament runs. PRO X3 LIGHTSPEED was crafted with athletes to reach their peak.

To rise to the occasion, the engineering team set out to upgrade the esports essential features and optimize the headset’s technology. The first major expansion was to double the standard parametric EQ bands from five to ten. This gives athletes far more control and depth over the nuances of their audio to tune as they wish.

During the 2025 Winter Workshop, design teams organized blind testing of over 40 esports athletes to rate their preference of various headsets during gameplay – only a single outlier preferred another headset, but the rest all chose the PRO X3 LIGHTSPEED prototype. An extra outcome of the blind test was the cataloging of athletes’ EQ preferences, available on G HUB, so you can hear the game the same way pros do.

Over a year of pro athletes feedback and dedicated play-tests informed the final design of the microphone – an omnidirectional, 48kHz/16bit full bandwidth detachable mic. The sound quality is quite noticeable, and can be further enhanced with Blue VO!CE software in G HUB for broadcast-quality comms.

Reacting to audio cues are fundamental to competitive gaming. Spatial audio can give away player locations or be used to misdirect during a pivot.
